7 days to Samburu National Reserve, Lake Nakuru National Park and Maasai Mara Game Reserve

 

On this safari you drive through central Kenya and north across the equator to Samburu National Reserve, a beautiful and game abundant park which is home to rarely found species such as the Beisa Oryx, Grevy's zebra, blue-necked Somali ostrich and reticulated giraffe. After a 2 days stay, proceed to the Rift Valley -Lake Nakuru National Park from where you will proceed to Kenya's most popular game sanctuary, Maasai Mara Game Reserve.
Facilities: Basic camping in Samburu, camping/guest house in Nakuru and semi-permanent camp in Maasai Mara with pre-set tents equipped with beds & beddings.

 

Day 1: Nairobi/Samburu

Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive through central Kenya and north across the equator to Samburu National Reserve with hot lunch en route. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 2. Samburu

Spend the day in Samburu, with an early morning and late afternoon game drives. Samburu is a beautiful and game abundant park, home to rarely found species such as the Beisa Oryx, Grevy's zebra, blue-necked Somali ostrich and reticulated giraffe. Optional visit to a local Samburu village.

 

Day 3: Lake Nakuru

Depart Samburu after breakfast and drive to the floor of the Rift Valley - to Lake Nakuru Nat. Park with a brief stop at Nyahururu Thomson Falls. Hot or picnic lunch en route. Arrive Lake Nakuru Park in time for an afternoon game drive. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approx 400 other species of birds visiting the lake. Also, many species of game can be found in the park including the introduced Rothschild's giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game. Dinner and overnight at the camp/guest house.

 

Day 4: Maasai Mara

Depart Lake Nakuru after breakfast and drive further along the floor of the Rift Valley to Maasai Mara arriving camp in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

 

Day 5 & 6: Maasai Mara

Spend two days in Maasai Mara, Kenya's most popular game sanctuary where you will have the best opportunity of spotting the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant).
On one day you will go out with picnic lunch boxes to spend most of the day in the park coming back to the lodge late afternoon, while on the second day you will have an early morning pre-breakfast game drive, and another one late afternoon. There will also be an optional visit to a local Maasai village. All meals and overnight at the camp.

Day 7: Nairobi

Depart Maasai Mara in the morning and drive back to Nairobi with hot or picnic lunch en route, arriving in the afternoon.
